In August, homes sales dropped for the sixth straight month, as the housing market continued on it's downward turn, according to a report by the National Association of Realtors. Homes sold in August fell 4.3% from the previous month, and sales nationwide are down 12.8% since August 2006. Economic Outlook - Real Estate

The housing market in this country needs a boost, and hopefully that boost will come sooner than later, although according to Alan Greenspan, the real estate market still has a way to go before it bottoms out. In August, foreclosures were up 36% from July 2007, and foreclosures were up 115% from August 2006, according to a report by CNN.

According to a report issued by Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight, home prices have climbed in the past 12 months, albeit at the slowest pace in the past 10 years.
